rear sway bar question

I picked up a set of factory front /rear sway bars. I have a question on how the rear mounts are the U shaped brackets that bolt to the frame necessary? Did they bolt to the sides of frame rail for more strength? I was thinking of getting a universal type of bushing assembly that would bolt or weld to bottom side of frame rails. The U shaped brackets I have are shot (see pic) and when I pulled them off the parts car they basically rotted the frame in that spot granted my car will not see the use and abuse this parts car saw. I assume welding them on would be better than bolting. Anyone sell original type rear sway bar bushings I couldn`t find any? Making a U shape piece would be simple enough and welding a universal type bushing assembly to it are another possibility.

4 bolts with shear load will be far stronger than 2 bolts using a pull load , the frame is not made of thick enough metal to support the bolts not pulling right through the frame , this is the same mistake made with the aftermarket rear sway bars , they just rip out of the frame .
 Energy Suspension makes poly bushings with hd straps for all size diameter sway bars so that is easy to get .

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys lots of good info in that thread. I figure on mounting the sway bar with the end links first then let the bushings "find themselves" up aginst the U brackets that I will make, then weld the bushing to the U bracket and bolt the bracket to the frame just like the originals were. How do you get the bushings on anyway brute force?

Hey ChallengerHK. What did you do to resize that? Better yet what am I doing wrong?
