Wider Tire Size
« on: June 04, 2012 - 03:34:55 PM »
My wife has a 2012 R/T and would like a bit wider tires. My wife has stock tires on it now, 245/45/20.  Has anyone put wider tires on there's?  What size would fit w/o any alteration?

I know some people have gone from the 8" rims out to 10 on the rear with a wider tire , not sure exactly what fits though

She doesn't want anything really wide but maybe a 275/45/20 but I know she has too be careful of the turn radius upfront if she wants them there also. I was just wondering if anyone has changed them out already.

275/45 20 will fit no problem on the rear.  The front is a different story with stock wheel and offset.  Issue is the upper control arm stud.  It comes real close to hitting top inside area of the tire.  My front wheel is 9" wide with a +25mm offset and the 265/40 tire I have is real close to that stud.  There are guys running stock SRT wheels with 275's but some are running spacers.

i tried 275-40-20 on our 08 r/t chrger and no rubs. also is close to same height as 245/45. so speedo/gearing will not not be different

i made a post about the use of tires for hi speeds , what type of tire would meet those spes  ect. i thought it was a tech type question.  when i come back i see my post has been locked/ moved ? i thought it was because it was about tires and they corrected my mistake .  but then i see another post about tires and the person who moved my post actually responded to it. ??? not trying to start anything ,, i just don't understand which way is the correct way ???   BW.
