tail lights, and trim

1970 challenger.. chrome tail light bexels,  head light and hood trim. Do you replace with after market, or find someplace to repair pot metal, plate and anodize the trim? If repair, do you know anyone in north carolina to do this?

I put on after market tail lights and trim witch fit perfect and looks good. I also went with an after market front light bezel but it is not fitting right. I will have do do some work to get them to fit right.

jackie where in NC you at?  I'm in NC, but I don't know anybody who would do restore the old pieces..maybe a few around.  I think it was C O D Y here that made a great video series on how to restore those trim pieces if you're into restoring stuff yourself. Somebody help me with a link to that?

i live in gastonia,n.c..(close to charlotte).  CODY has a great vid. of polishing stainless trim... the headlight trim is anodized aluminum, and the tail light bezels are chrome plated pot metal. I have read that restoring your old ones is better than the after market one's. Someone that has had some repaired, please chime in..

To restored the stainless that has dings can cost up to 50 dollars a foot.To re chrome pot metal is very costly.

You can get those parts new from a few different places.  BE&A sells them as well as PG Classics.  I'm pretty sure Dave at Roseville sells BE&A parts too.

If you restore your original piece, know that if you don't have the aluminum re-anodised, they will tarnish quickly.  You'll have to polish them often.  There aren't many places that re-anodise.  It's expensive.

The tail panel trim from BE&A isn't anodised.  It's chromed.  I don't know if that matters to you or not.  I'm not sure about the headlight bezels/hood trim. 

Metro also makes the tail panel trim.  There's might be anodised but there were problems with the quarter trim fitting properly.

I replaced my pot metal bezels with billet alum ones , I bought the last set the guy was going to make apparently , they look great though

I bet the billet alum. ones are nice. Will last forever.. Pitted chrome, and dull trim will make the whole new paint job look bad. Man, i did not want to refinance the house, just to put my car back together! I know all to well, You have to pay to play!!

it is hard to find good platters that will do potmetal. I have a company local here to me in michigan.  As for the Repop. PG is the only source for them currently. As i get them through BEA. but i have just been told about 40 days out i may have a set.

I had some redone my Paul's Chrome in Penn.  They have lasted real well.  I would like to know how the reproductions are holding up.  Are they chrome over the pot metal or is there a layer of another material in between the pot metal and the chrome?

There's copper underneith the chrome.
