Replacing my complete trunk floor need a little advice
« on: September 28, 2012 - 01:14:09 PM »
I have removed my tail light panel and complete trunk floor, have new AMD panels to go back in, I am having a problem with fitting the drop off panels, they dont seem to go forward far enough to line up with the trunk floor which at this time is just sitting in place to get the side drop offs lined up.
Do I need to separate the wheel well a little more from the quarter panel to get it to move forward enough?  That seems to be the place it is hanging up.
Would it be better to use the new body glues to put all these panels back in or re spot weld them, any opinions?  The glue will make the area sealed better and stronger the spot welds will just look original.

All new metal panel NOS and repops most likely will need some adjustments to fit.  None of these pieces are legos.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

I have expected making mods to the panels. Guess I will have to get a little more aggressive in making them fit.

If you glue, you might consider removing the EDP coating to assure good adhesion, metal to metal. I would personally weld.

Just finished installing the trunk floor extensions and tail panel, what a pain in the ass, the car had been hit in the back once before, must have been in the 70s because the brazed everything together, that took me 3 weeks to get it all apart so I could save as much metal as possible. now all that is left is putting on the seam sealer and preping it for primer and paint. will post some pics latter, This was hard to do after two back surgeries and siatic pain that keeps me down after 3 hours of work. But got it done and looks good. will look better once its painted and re undercoated.
