Nice 'Cuda, but are you comparing a 383-four speed 'Cuda to a 440-sixpack four-speed Challenger?  :clueless:

Thanks .....Yes.....I am...I think the rare part of a VO2/VX9 B5 blue cuda says volumes. I have never seen one and Barry Washington has not either? I guess then you ask, how many white challys with a 440 are out there? , I think that the 40 HP differance is not a factor, enless you are saying  plain challengers are bringing more money than very rare color combo Cuda's? In my 25 years buying and selling classics, the Cuda has allways been the big buck cars, But things do change and challys could be bringing more doe these days.....I can say I am allways open to learning new things.."open minds catch the worm, not the early ones" I have never owned plymouth products before except to flip them like pancakes when sales were good( Just a hobby buying and selling).....so this is my 1st venture in adding these types of cars to my collection...... as you can see by my posts I have alot to learn about originality issues , but I know rare when I see it......I must admit out of the 35 cars I have, when I let peaple in to the hanger, and they are musle car peaple they gravitate to the little blue cuda in the back....

There's no need to paint it if you don't want to.  It's your car and it can be anything you want it to be.

However, if you're going for a factory correct look, there's a lot that can be done to help your car look more original.  Since you're wanting to continue to make your car look "original" here's a few things that are much easier to fix.... (PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY, your car is VERY nice, but here's a few things I noticed).....

Put the correct wrinkle finish on the dual snorkel
Paint the cowl area the correct black out (the front rad support blacked out too)
Get a correct voltage regulator
I think the correct carb spring for a 383 is green?
Black out the wheel wheels with correct black sound deadener (if you haven't already.
The mark on the front valve cover should be a 3 digit number (engine code on the buildsheet)
Heat shield should be black.
Transmission mount should be yellow.
leaf springs should have a colored paint dab, not an X.
and I think the foot panel should be the same color as the door panel.

I really like your car so please don't take my comments the wrong way.  Just trying help as you seem to want to have your car looking stock and original.  I would double check anything I suggest as I might be wrong.  Also, I think you got a great deal!

As for the White Challenger, I do think it's worth at least 50K and maybe even over 60K to the right person.  It's a VERY clean and nicely done car.  Don't see many of them THAT nice.

Thanks Cody!! , I will have to have it painted...if its not right it's not in my collection....I keep learning...... :worshippy

My take on it is this , if you had colored interior the column will match , but if the car has a white or black interior as yours does it should have the black column

That sounds right.  So what color should the door panels, kick panels and dash be?  All the same?  Something doesn't look right?  What color is the headliner?

Ya, if you had a white interior should be black column.  Does your fender tag say BW or B5?  Also, your build sheet will list the column color.  Glad Neil posted!  I saw blue and thought you just changed out the seats and door panels to white!  lol.

Kind of off-topic.

I correct my assertion...comparing a 383-four-speed 'Cuda to a 440 four-barrel four-speed Challenger.

Hmmm...true, 'Cudas do usually bring more money than Challengers (especially 71 'Cudas to '71 Challenger R/Ts) but not always.  Your car definitely has some rare options, like that blue/white interior.  Why you were able to buy that 'Cuda for $32k is a mind boggler.  I think you just got a good deal, but then again, it wasn't quite complete when you got it for $32k, right?

Thanks Cody any help is great! I want it as close as possible. And your comments are taken with an open mind........I stoped thinking I know it all when I turned 50 and now know I don't no ****...LOL....

1. The snorkle had a wrinkle finish but the stickers would not stay on? I have seen them satin...I think the gloss black is not correct either? not sure what to do?
2. The carb spring is green
3. I will paint the black out parts as you suggest incuding the heat shield....
4. I will change the marking too
5. Do you have a pic of the tranny mount? , if so what color yellow did they use? I am going to be there as I think that could be the unfound rattle I have been looking for........
6 what color paint dab... on the leaf spring?
7 the voltage reg is pic below
8 Sound deaden done on all 4 corners in a random messy way they did at factory LOL....

It's getting very close thanks to lots of input from you guys......

it was a situation right place right time, also the car needed to be redone as it sat for 10 years on a trailer , I spent about 10k to get it to the point it is now... (Lucky the paint was still #1 condition for being that old (sikens paint) thanks to the input from you guys...it's getting close to being "Correct"

Very COOL!  BW is real rare.  Do you have a photo of the fender tag?

Yes, I was wrong in thinking your column should  be blue.  With BW it would be black as Neil pointed out.

The voltage regulator looks much better!  It's a nice repop, but the correct factory ones had a dimple.  Like this one.... ebay #320923333605

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-NOS-MOPAR-ROADRUNNER-GTX-CUDA-CHALLENGER-VOLTAGE-REGULATOR-3438150-/320923333605?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4ab88573e5&vxp=mtr#ht_500wt_1156

The transmission mount I think should look like the photo attached.  The rear leaf springs typically had 1 or 2 daubs of paint to the front edge of the main leaf.  383 should be orange and white.

PLEAAAASE double check everything as I do not know for sure.  Just trying to help.

1 of 1, I think you got an exceptional deal on your Cuda and for that reason, likely coming in a little low on estimating it's current market value.

Everyone on here would absolutely love to have either of these cars.  For me, they are both just tooooooo nice (and expensive) to drive, which means I wouldn't own either.

Sure Cody here it is, I thought this car with a VO2 black painted top 2 tone blue/white interior was very very rare when I saw it.....are the kick panels correct in the car or should they be white , they are original factory parts?

Both of these cars are very rare and cool!  It would be hard to say which one is better, I would LOVE to have either of them!   :clapping:
