70 barracuda ignition switch and console question
« on: June 08, 2012 - 05:39:02 PM »
I was looking through pics online and am having trouble seeing the difference between the 70 and 71 consoles. I just bought a 70. Also part of the key is stuck in the ignition you can still stick in the other part and turn the wheel but I want to fix or replace it. Also what are the difference in the steering wheels? Mine is aftermarket and therefore ugly. Hopefully I'm asking this in the right spot.
Thanks

The 70 console has a large hole at the rear. Looks like a part is missing. Should look like this though. The purpose is to store the lapbelt when not in use. 71-up has a smaller hole to hold a chrome ash tray. Otherwise interchangeable as far as I know.

LOL and here is the main reason I love Moparts! Thanks to both of you....luckily my shifter is already attached to the floor, its the console that was the mystery....thanks for the additional info, I print these out and keep them in a folder in case I need them later.... it's a #10 screw - same as the windshield washer reservoir screws EXCEPT they are black 5/8" #8 chrome oval head counter sunk phillips head screws attach the chrome/woodgrain applique to the console itself
10-24 x 3/4" macine screws with a 3/8" head attaches the shifter to the floor
