engine type

can any of you tell me excatly what engine model this is the guy i bought it from a year ago told me it was a srt 8 hemi but is it a 5,7 or 6,1 or somthing els, so maby one of you can tell me just by looking at the picture or is there a vin code on it somewhere

Im sure someone with more knowledge will answer for sure about how to check but i know if its a real srt8 motor then its 6.1

They put 6.1's in the SRT-8's until recently. So that is a good bet. The 5.7's were in R/T's.

srt is a 6.1 but it may be a 5.7 as they look the same from the heads down

It has the LX platform accessories. (charger, magnum, challenger) so it most likely isn't a truck version of the 5.7. The 6.1 and earlier 5.7 have different intake ports (04-09 model years) in late 2009 they tweaked the 5.7 for more power and people commonly refer to it as the " eagle" version. Is there a cast number on the xv intake? I would start there as it should tell you if you have 5.7 ports or 6.1 ports. And then you should know that the rest is.... Unless they swapped eagle heads onto it, but I doubt it.

i cant seem to find a cast number on the xv intake, do you think it would be on the bottem side so i have to take it off to see ?

Measure the intake ports on the heads and then compare them to known factory dimensions (google, I don't remember them)

easiest way to tell is the 5.7 blocks are black 6.1 Blocks are orange

Ask the previous owner if he has any receipts on the engine......... He should be willing to show you some paper work on the engine.............

If the Block is painted Orange it is a 6.1 and if it is unpainted it is a 5.7
