Exhaust manifold question
« on: July 02, 2012 - 12:55:26 PM »
Hi everyone...

I will need a complete exhaust system for my '71 Challenger with a 383. When I bought the car, it had headers on. I want to put it back stock, (manifolds). My question is: I have a driver side manifold here, from a 69 B-Body. Physically, it is very similar. The only difference I can see is, it doesn' t have treaded holes to bolt on the heat sheild, which is no big deal for me. What I want to know is, If I put it on, what head pipe will fit?  I mean, when you order head pipes, you have to give the exhaust maker your manifold casting numbers. Now, if I tell them it is 2843992, they' re going to tell me that isn' t a valid number for an E-body, which is true. My concern is the flange angle at the outlet. Is it the same as one of the possible casting numbers for E-body?  If so, which one?  Once a gain, I' m not that fussy for the look and I don' t really care about the heat sheild. I know the manifold I have will fit the engine fine, just want to know which pipe to order that will fit with the car.

Thanks to all

Robert

Call the exhaust company and ask them.  They'll know if that manifold will work with their system.

With TTI they want the manifold casting #s , the flange is different between the 2 manifolds , the clocking of the bolt position changes & TTi will accomodate that change
