Problems with floor pan imstallation

I am installing my front floor pan in the car. I took the entire floor pan out, including where it was spot welded to the fire wall. The intention was to spot weld the folded-down front edge of the floor pan where the factory one was supposed to be. Problem is I am having a hard time getting the gap closed. There is about a quarter inch gap between the panels with the floor pan pushed up as far as I can get it. What should i do there? I thought about folding the lip back up on the pan so I can lap weld it over the firewall, but i didnt know if that was a good idea. Thanks for the help.

is it long enough every were else ? if so maybe trimming the sides down to get it to push forward enough to fill the gap,,I mean perhaps its to tight on the sides to go forward enough , just a thought

It fits everywhere else fine. But I can't get it to push any farther up. It's hitting the supports I think.

I think this is a common problem with the floors.  I had this problem as well.

I had a buddy stand in the car as far forward as possible while I got a bunch of vise grips and sheet metal screws to put everything together.  I worked from the center to the outsides.  The trick is getting the first bit of metal together and then work the rest of it together.  You may have to come back to the center at the end to pull it back together again after you get it close.

Take your time and be patient.  You should haven't to cut or modify anything to get it to fit.

 I was trying to get it close enough to clamp but i can't get vise grips in there. I didn't think about screws though. Thanks for the help!
