Milodon gear drive....water pump won't fit?
« on: July 27, 2012 - 02:28:47 PM »
Just about ready to lift the motor/tranny/ k- frame up into place when I decide to bolt on the water pump.
It doesn't fit? It hits the gear drive about 3/8 before it mates up to the block.?  I did a quick search on Milodons web site and found spacers but there is no picture? part # 13567  Is this what I need? Anyone have some loose so you could measure the thickness? I might make my own?
Also the bottom pulley doesn't line up with out spacing out the water pump?
Thanks Brad

I figured it out on my own and got ambitious and made my own.... spacers are 3/16" ( .187) pulley's line up perfect now. I'm getting sick of having to make parts though.  :-\

At least you can make your own parts. Gotta feel sorry for the guys that can't do that.  Can you just imagine
going to the machine shop every time something is wrong?  :swear:
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Ya your right. Now I'll have to make new spacers for the power steering pump and alternator too.  ::)

:pullinghair:  Ok last update on this one....
I assembled it all without a gasket to check clearances and found the water pump was "just" touching. So off it came AGAIN! and I machined .030" off the back of the water pump.  ::)
So with the gaskets I should be good to go!  :2thumbs: ..... I hope?

That is when you need to get good with a grinder, roloc disc and a file.
