...on the old cars, we seem to want the rubber bumpers, so Chrysler gave them to us on the new Challenger and some want them chrome...no win

Are you sure it was the same brand? I saw these installed on 10 Challengers at the Mopars in the Park event that Retro USA was at and met with them.
I admit I was skeptical about it at first but once I seen it in person and got to look at the materials in person I like the look. I also got to meet the owners of the company very nice people everything is made here in the US and they stand behind there product.

I've seen them on cars and do like them myself. Yet I too would worry about how they would look in a few years if the car goes through a car wash a lot. If you wash it by hand, I would think they would last pretty good. It's just my opinion, but I do like how they look on a car.

Unfortunately I give it about 5 car washes before it starts fading/peeling/rubbing off.  I doubt that stuff is any better than what they use on kids' toys these days.

I might actually take that bet if'n I wasnt a cheap cuss.  LOL

My Honda VTX1300 motorcycle had a LOT of plastichrome...headlight bucket, side covers, lower side covers, air cleaner cover, speedo bezel, spark plug/engine covers........and more.

When I bought the bike I assumed it was all metal or pot metal, chromed....when I got it home I found it was plastic and felt sort of jipped.   Well, had that bike for 7 years and about 70k miles.......rode it every day in all sorts of weather including snow and salty conditions (I am a year round rider).   And the chrome looked pristine, save for any scratches I put onto it.  My "new" bike, a Honda VTX1800 this time, has less plastic but still has some.

If what you saw was the same stuff, it will probably outlast regular chrome.
