Trunk lid tension adjustment

Has anyone ever adjusted the "tension" on their trunk lid?  Is it possible?

Now that I added the spoiler to mine, its a lot heavier lifting it...it just barely stays up all the way...anywhere in between it falls fast......

The service manual says "wind the torsion bar"........but doesnt seem to explain how .....

Inside the trunk the torsion bars have 4 or 5 slots to engage. You need to move the torsion bar tips from one slot to the next to give you more 'twist'. I need to do it too. Just never got around to it. Not sure how you do it without scratching paint?

I just used a large flat blade screw driver. I have 2 torsion rods, so I moved both back one slot towards the rear of the car. Be aware that there is a lot of tension on the rod, so as soon as you move it out of it's slot, it will want to fling towards the front of the car.

Thanks!   used your picture and once I figured out what angle to use it was easy.

True though...even with me layering tape everywhere I could, I got chips.....

But the deck lid is nice and balanced now.....      Thanks again!
