Coolant overflow tank
« on: October 14, 2010 - 06:25:52 PM »
I have a '73 Barracuda, with a small block. It didn't have a coolant overflow tank on it when I got it. I bought one (thought maybe it was the correct one) from Yearone, but this thing is huge and doesn't fit anywhere in the engine compt that I can find. Don't know if it mounts somewhere else or if I just got sold something that isn't what it was supposed to be. Does anyone have a pic of what the originals look like and maybe in place on the car? Or even a suggestion for using something else that won't look cheap and/or badly out of place on the car.
Appreciate any help....

There is a metal bracket that mounts to the radiator by the battery, w/o the bracket the tank won't work.   I'll see if I can find a pic.

Bullitt, I bought the bracket too, but the whole mess is big enough that I haven't been able to find room to put it on the car. I'll keep messin' with it 'til I figure it out.
Thanks

I'm pretty sure 74 was the only year that came with an overflow bottle.  At least I've never seen one on any other year.  I have a picture of a 74 Challenger that may help you see where it goes.

I've got a '70 and would like to add an overflow bottle. I've seen some stainless models that actually mount in the space just underneath the battery tray. They look pretty nice. Has anyone had any luck with these?

Thanks
