440> can I get 600 HP???? Combinations?

 totally different , I have dynoed numerous realtively mild combos making 600 + gross , but getting past 400 RWhp is tough

I would build a 512 stroker with aluminum heads and a 850ish carb.

With a 440 stock stroke wont you need to go with high comp pistons, high flow heads like -1, and a big solid roller cam to touch 600hp?

I  went over 700 gross hp with a roller cam , Victor heads & headers
 I hit 630 Gross with 915 heads & a solid flat tappet cam & headers , all in at 5300 RPM too

600 from a stock displacement 440 is feasible. It will require really good aftermarket heads ( Victor Eddy's,  Indy), .6 to. 7 inch lift on a custom ground solid roller camshaft. Duration isn't too critical, keeping the valve train light is. Cutting down on rotating mass would really help. Polish and radius the crank counterweights. Use a longer con-rod (7.1 is a common length ). Custom pistons would be a must, the extra rod length will put your compression height in the 1.7 range. Compression Ratio would need to be 10 to 1. If you were to use the max-wedge size port Eddy's or Indy heads you could still run a dual plane ( Indy makes a the 2D manifold in a max-wedge size with flow numbers in the 360-70 cfm range with nothing more than a tickle of hand porting). This would help keep the the low end respectable. This makes me curious, I think I'll fire up my dynomation program and see how it turns out.

With a mild roller cam, ported dual plane Indy intake, and cnc ported Eddy RPM heads this is what i got, 613 hp @ 6000 rpm, 623 foot pounds @ 4500 rpm. Average HP is over 520 , average Torque was over 530. At 1000 rpm torque was 379 foot pounds, it was over 500 by 1600 rpm. The longer rod gains 4 hp at peak and 1 foot pound at peak. It seems to come from lower frictional loses due to piston stability in the bore. Oh, and these are not the max wedge size ports, but still pretty impressive. Soon as i get some more info on those heads I'll post the results.
