Question about replacing all rear sheet metal
« on: August 06, 2012 - 07:00:42 AM »
I stuck tali light gaskets in my car over the last week and while I was under there, I realize that I will need to do some serious sheet metal work when the car comes back apart one day.

I am just wondering, mostly when I am trying to fall asleep at night, of how crazy it is when you have to do quarters, outer wheel houses, and trunk extensions all at once? I see pictures of cars with just the frame rails sticking out but I also hear of needing to support everything while its apart.

My biggest fear is trying to make sure its all lined up correctly and valances/bumpers would fit well.

It is going to be years before I get to this point, but I realize that its a must when I go to repaint.

Thanks!

do the quarters have to be replaced or car you put skins on instead ? If you havent done full quarters before i would start saving your money and look for a pro to do it. Any pro would have pics and owners that will tell you how good he is. Im good with body work but i would never try to do a full quarter fearing i wouldnt get it lined up right. good luck
What does it profit a man to gain the whole would and lose his soul.

Thanks, that is what I was thinking. I did skins originally but I would go full quarter next time.

The car is pretty straight, but if I am going to go through all of the trouble of a nicer paint job, I want a good foundation.
