Thanks guys for giving great replies on this matter. My car has matching numbers on the radiator support, cowl, engine, tranny and title. No dash VIN though. It was titled in Washington state and is now titled in Nevada. No problems.
Another forum suggested I part the car out or make a race car out of it.1970 340 4-speed cars are hard to find.

Still waiting for both you and sportoony to post pictures of your cars.

Would love to see them.

Sounds like this car got a state issued vin on it before you got it. Not sure why your title would have the original vin number on it though. Is there a chance the guy could have given you the original title with the original vin on it for collectable reasons AND another title or some paper work showing it got a state issued vin. Why else would a police officer inspect this thing other then to get it a new vin?Did you actually check the dash vin with your own eyes when you bought it. I think that vin tag has been there since you got the car. There's No way someone swapped tags on you.
