You need the performance engine book , MoparAl may be able to scan the page you need , I have the same book but not here with me  , the engine balance was different between every external balance engine  the 340 , 360 , 400 , 440 cast & 440 6 pack were all different weight offsets so the flywheel cannot be swapped between them , the best route is either to balance everything as the engine is assembled or have the engine internally balanced as it si built . My Race 440 used 6 pack rods but there were severely lightened & polished & the crank was weighted so everything was balanced properly internally . Using a new flywheel drilled correctly will get you close as long as you do have the 6 pack rods & correct pistons in the engine now , if you have a lighter piston which I would recommend then it will still be off .
I am not trying to depress you but it is better to find out now than once it is all together & vibrating .

the engine was a complete block minus intake and has already been professionally rebuilt back in the 90s for around $1,200.

It was factory stock, and rebuilt with same parts minus a mild purple shaft cam.... so I need to believe it has correct rods and pistons.

How do you go about making sure FW is balanced/drilled correctly for a 440-6pk...  is there a machine that does this?      I could have the correct flywheel that came with the car, i am just not sure because of the 20 year time laps  :faint:

I do have a 3" thick service manual...  what is the specific name of the engine book, does amazon have it

thank you!!!!

i found this on the web.  someone also mentined that the bb sixpack fw has a half moon chunk missing out of it rather than wieghts.

both check out;  two thru-holes at .370" diameter and a chunk missing.    It must be correct! since one came with car and I dont have any others sitting around.      agree  :clueless:

Looking at clutch discs, my old one is a full 11" with 18 spline.. not sure on the make.

Mcleod organic $150 range, 10.95"
Mcleod alum/kevl $210 range, 11"

do i need to or should I spend more on the alum/kevlar version ?

Why not give McLeod a quick call on the tech line & see what they recommend as best fit for you

 Ok, they recommended organic for a stock weekend driver.

They resurface and rebuilt the pressure plates with new springs for 90, think I may take them up on that and have them ship it back with new clutch disc.    unless you think its a waste of money, it seems worth while.
