Transmission will not shift between 1st & 2nd gear

    My A833 transmission will not shift between 1&2 gears.  It is stuck in neutral; this is with the trans out of the car. It will shift between 3&4 and into reverse.  I pulled the shifter levers of and put a wrench on the gear selector, it will move about a ¼ inch, but won’t go into first or second. 
    I pulled the side cover off what should I be looking for to see what is binding?  :clueless:

    Are you rotating it while doing this , is the fork bent , can you slide the syncro collar over the gear with the cover off ?

    Thanks Neil, yes i am rotating the it, but it wont budge, it stay in nuetral, and won't engage.  The fork dosn't look bent.  I haven't tried to slide the syncro collar yet.  I will try that.  It is like the fork engage

    The problem is solved.  :bananasmi

    The issue was the 1st and 2nd  speed fork was installed backwards, with the long end towards the reverse gear, stoping it from moving.

    once iI fixed that it shifts perfectly.  :clapping:
