Okay, Sunday was my 43rd birthday and my fiance' took me out on Saturday, we met with 2 other couples to go GO Carting!!!
Yes that was fun but then we all went for coffee afterwards. One of the other guys whom I met a couple times before road races a B M W. His daily driver is a 1990 N I S S A N which he has added a turbo, beefed up suspension front and rear, computer in glovebox which he can use to dial in several engine functions like intake manifold pressure, fuel mixture, timing, etc. A really cool unit made right here in Calgary and shipped to race car teams all over the world!
Anyway, after our coffee the women decided I should join Ian in the car and he could take me for a spin meeting at their home.
I reluctantly go with him as this is a ricer!
But as we go, I realize he is way more knowledgable and skilled as a driver than your average ricer driver!!!!
We first took a down hill on ramp to the freeway with a posted speed limit of 40 mph doing 80 mph!!!
This is an S curve that the car didn't even roll or slide and with the wide Yokohama tires, didn't even let out an ounce of squeel!
We hit the freeway doing 120 mph!!!
For Chryco's info. This was from Tim Horton's on Mcnight Blvd. down the S curve to Deerfoot Trail! I leaned over to see our speed!
We then blasted up to a couple turnoffs later with lots of traffic. Country Hills Blvd. I couldn't believe he only slowed down to 60 mph to make the right exit and tight left to take a hard left again at the lights, we hit it right! Green!! So a couple of turns and we were at their place and waited for the girls to arrive.
Sorry I can't report it was in a Mopar, but this was awesome! 3 maybe 4 minutes and we were parked and waiting for our partners, who took a shortcut by the way! I just met this dude for the second time and he is into Grand Prix/Indy and other real road racing! He's a Boeing aircraft mechanic and knows his stuff!
Anyway, I just wanted to share this, cause I'm used to going in a straight line!
BTW, in the go cart racing.....he finished 1st and I was 2nd! Out of 6 of us in total, no one else even came close!
Once I am married, we plan on purchasing a big screen TV to watch NASCAR races and have car enthusiast friend's over to watch with us! So I am hoping Ian and Chryco will meet and have some good discussions! I can't wait!
