Proper Radiator for 1970 383 Automatic Cuda
« on: September 19, 2012 - 10:03:48 PM »
Hello, I have a 1970 Cuda that has a 383 Engine, Automatic 727 Transmission, Heater and No Air Conditioning.  I mistaking ordered a replacement radiator from Yearone and they shipped a radiator that was too wide. (I think Yearone shipped a 26" wide radiator). Do I need a 22" wide radiator and where can I get one? I think the original Plymouth part number is 2998960 but I am not sure. I have provided a picture of the front of the car. You can see the opening for the radiator is small so I am guessing I need a 22" wide.

My main question is where can I get the correct radiator for a 383 Engine, Automatic 727 Transmission, Heater and No Air Conditioning. Also, what is the proper ordering number. This question must have already been asked somewhere so I do apologize if this is a repeat thread.

Thank you!  :clueless:

The 960 would be correct.  My Challenger takes the same one and they are really hard to find.  I finally found one and had to have it re-cored.  By the time I got it installed I was out about a grand.  It works great however!

I am really having a hard time finding one of these. I wish I had not thrown mine away 30 years ago. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!  :banghead: There is one on EBAY but it is really in need of repair. I guess that would be an option if I cant find anything else.

Are you looking for an original radiator?

If not, the aftermarket world might have an aluminum radiator that would work.

OK, Thanks! I have messaged Topcat and called Glen-Ray Radiator. I am really looking for an OEM that I can repair or is in pretty good shape. A new radiator from Glen-Ray is going to be expensive, they have not called me back yet.  :dunno:

If you want correct. I would buy the one on Ebay and have it redone.
