Close ratio gear sets?
« on: September 16, 2012 - 08:44:42 PM »
For reasons that I will announce shortly, I need to make a quick decision on something that I thought was a done deal. My car was built as an automatic, and I have a 518 I had planned to have built for it. Coming back from Tony Miller's today after dropping off a load of parts, I REALLY felt the need to bang some gears, and I started thinking about putting a manual gearbox in the Challenger. So, one of the things I need to determine is, for any of the Mopar 6 speeds, is there a gear set available to turn it from a 4 speed with two overdrive ratios to a close ratio 5 speed with a single overdrive ratio?

And while I'm at it, I assume that some sort of adapter is needed to convert these to an old small block?

"She'll make point five past light speed. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, and I've made a lot of special modifications myself."
