whats the deal with the metal color?

Anyone know what I should do with the metal on my car, its has a lot of different blemishes like this and some spots i have used a sand blaster and it didnt hardly change it. Im not sure if its just the metal or If i should even worry about? Just looking for some help before i go to far for nothing?

Treat it and prime it before it rusts more!

So my good friend is a body man and suggest i sandblast some of the spots and I did but does not seem to have any affect on it except i did find some more pin holes in the passenger side rear quarter so guess i may just replace the whole thing. I have never done this before, should I do a lot of replacing or just prime it and paint it?

Get some epoxy primer on it pronto, bodywork on top of that, high build primer, a ton of sanding then paint

Agree on getting some epoxy on that exposed metal. 

When I had my fenders and trunk lid blasted w/ walnut shells, they came back with blemishes similar to what you have.  Some of it was the red oxide primer originally used and some of it was rust starting to form.  I took a red scuff pad with some Pickelx (any phosphoric acid based wash will do) and scuffed over all the panels.  Let the acid wash sit and then wiped it off.  Repeated process on the spots that didn't clean up the first time.  The blemishes disappeared and the panels were protected enough from rust until I could get some coats of epoxy on them.

I used some stuff called Crud Cutter from ACE hardware. It leaves a white film once it dries on.
Wear a rubber glove and 3M pad off the white after it dries and  your ready to shoot epoxy primer.
