lunati in mopar 413.
« on: October 21, 2012 - 04:40:53 PM »
Hi. This is my first topic in this forum which maybe isnt the right place for me since my car is a c-body new yorker -65. But i have been reading topics from cryco and i get the feeling he knows what is good and what isnt. I desided to go whit the lunati 60303 in my engine.  Its a 413 whit 10.5 comp , 516 heads 2.08/ 1.74  ferrea valves whit  radius seats and bowl / inner radius porting. At first i had a torker2 intake, but now i have a perf. Rpm on.  750 eddy carb. 2400 converter 3.23 rear.
I still only have h.p headers (ported) and 2.5 dual but is planing for headers.
The car is realy fun to drive, big and loud :)
How much hp do you think it have ?
Will i gain much going up to 60304 or 05 cam ?
I know headers is best gain and will do them during winter. There is a galaxie 64 whit 428 that really need to see the back of my chrysler :)

Andy,

  Welcome aboard here.

It sounds like you have made good choices so far, but I'm really a fish out of water when it comes to the 413.  In fact I don't even know of a company to recommend for headers.

Just know the more radical the cam, the less street-able it will be. So we need to know how you plan to drive the car too.

Hi Andy
With the 2400 converter a bigger cam will probably hurt the combo more then help it you want lots of midrange torque which you should have,  headers will help but rather than switching cams again I would use a better carb like a Proform 850 on it . Hard to guess at HP but it should move very well as is !!

Hi again and thanks for your answers.
As cryco suggested i think i need a bigger carb. Been looking on the profirm earlier. The car goes pretty good even though it is a bit heavy.
I will give it new pistons whit a really tight squish, since we have 98 octan fuel here. And maybe some more porting.
I really like the lunati voodoo cams as they have fast ramp. Are there any other manufacters who do this ? Been building competition engines for nearly 20 years mostly european kinds (volvo ,ford ,opel etc) .
I do not have so much experience whit v-8 engines, but i think it is the same as any engine, just putting the right stuff together :)
Thanks again .. and its a very good forum and a lot of interesting reading from you cryco :)

Hello and welcome Andy!  Neil ( CP) talked me into a quickfuel carb (same company as proform)  and it's been great! Best carb I've ever owned! I love the adjust-ability of them!  :2thumbs: I've had quite a few Holley's and a Demon in the past and this carb is in a totally different league!
Here is a post I started about my experiance with it?

Welcome to the site Andy. A 65 C body in Sweden, man, there must be a story there! That's good fuel you've got, too. 440 Source sells a set of aluminum heads for a good price and they'd probably help the search for horsepower to beat that old Ford FE. I believe more of the cam grinders are offering cams specifically ground to take advantage of the .904" lifter in Mopars and CP probably know most of them.
