Yes your kickdown stays the same with a carb.   I am using a cable from Lokar.

Thats right, you don't have to cut the car at all,  just make a new trans support crossmember.   I did use a hammer and banged a little clearance so it didn't knock on the floor, but it really wasn't mandatory.

since you got a truck tranny, you will need to change the govenor, PATC told me about this and you will need to get one that is for a car. Also ,measure your driveshaft carefully, when I had mine cut, I took off about a 1/2" to much off. Also the 46rh TQ convertors are neutrally balanced.

Good luck!!

PATC is wrong on the governors, there is no difference. 46RH converters are not all neutrally balanced either, depends on the engine.

Since its out and easy to service when you whip off the sump to change the filter drop the valve body and check the band adjuster wedges, I've had them break and fall onto the valve body jamming the shift comb, on these trans in Ram 250 vans before, worth an inspection : )

:iagree:

It is well worth the rebuild kit (and super easy to do) on the front end of the tranny...  maybe get some help and put in a shift kit too.  :)
Don't mess with rebuilding the OD unit unless you know what you're doing.  dangerous.

don't worry a total rebuild is in the works, and by a real transmission guy too, I am going to upgrade everything I can. I am figuring about $1000.00 kit with a 2500-2800 stall TC
