old ad from Hertz
« on: November 14, 2012 - 05:57:04 AM »
I found this old airline ticket sleeve in my dad's coat.   I think it was from 1972 or 73...not sure about the year.  and I'm not a pinto expert so i can't tell from looking at the picture.
2 gallons of gas cost more than renting this pinto for a day....  :faint:

Just requested that movie from the library!

Man, car rentals for $7.47?  Sounds good at first but then again, for a pinto...  :dunno:  I wonder what the average rental rate was back then.

Cool piece of nostalgia that ad, thanks!

I've got that movie in my collection.  Its a keeper.

And $7.47 would have bought a lot of gas back then, maybe 30 or 40 gallons.

Interesting that just this morning, I stumbled across an ad from enterprise for their 9.99 day-rent weekend specials:

I wonder if Hertz ran any adds when they were offering up the shelby mustangs for rent?  Those would be cool to see.

I was in a very serious 3-car accident while riding in a Ford Pinto. Thank God it didn't explode!! We were T-boned by a Dodge Magnum and shoved into a Chebby Vega. This was about 1978. One broken ankle (not mine) and many cuts/bruises. That was tough little car and actually got pretty good mileage. Just don't rer-end them!!  :smilielol:

Wayne's World! lol. I'd drive that. (I actually had a Pinto/Bobcat/Mustang II) That's how they were defined in the service manual, so that's what I called it.
{oo/-------\oo} In '69 I was twenty-one and I called the road my own. I don't know when that road turned into the road I'm on. Jackson Browne

Man, that's great deal!  And no Pintos involved!!!

Actually, my brother had a cool little pinto.  I think it was a 1980, Pinto ESS.  WAs an appearance package but I thought it was cool.  Car was bright yellow and everyy piece of chrome was blacked out and it came with the 4 spoke Magnum 500 style rims.  If I remember correctly, it actually had a 6 cylinder, not a 4 cylinder in it.  Had a full gauge package.  Looked like the pic below but in yellow, and the interior didn't have the aftermarket tach.
He had fatter tires out back on the factory rims too.
