advancing the cam will lower the powerband slightly .
Really you need a degree wheel , often the cams are not ground "true" so the builder may have advanced the cam to get it to line up correctly with the crank , , the only way to confirm this is with a piston stop & a degree wheel . The worst cam I ever found was ground 11* off so if you did not check it with a degree wheel & just lined up the dots the engine would barely run & never make good power , almost as if the chain had jumped 1 tooth !!
