Maybe bolt hole Question
« on: December 20, 2012 - 03:02:16 PM »
Hey guys,

In the picture labeled Pass #1 & #2 I've circled in red a hole that I don't know what attaches there.  It has definatley been cut.  Or do I just weld in a new piece of steel figuring someone cut it to route through something?  I have a similar hole on the other side, labeled Drivers #1 & #2 but with a nut with the bolt still in there.  So am I missing something?  Do I weld in a new piece of metal with a bolt or just a patch?  Is it missing something?  Or are both sides suppose to be different?  Since the car was partially taken apart when I got it I don't know what attaches to it if anything.  I'm guessing the fender????  Can you guys help me out?  Thanks

Dave

Those bolts help to hold in the inner fendser splash sheilds.

But it looks like you are missing the threaded inserts.

Thanks does anyone have a picture of the splash shield attached that I could look at?

Why does Dutch's picture have that hole in it and mine doesn't?

And where can I get that anchor?  Thanks

You'd have to salvage one out of another car or just buy a washer-integral 5/16" nut and mig it in, fill in the holes and grind the welds.  :2cents:

These are the splash guards you need. I would have like to show you when they are installed, but this is the only pic I have, (car is at the body shop at the moment). They fill the space between the end of the cowl dash and the fender. The bottom hole of the guard align with the hole you are talking about. The lower hole use a 5/16" bolt while all the others holes use metal screws and flat washers. Splash guards part numbers are 2895554 & 2895555.
