Year One go-wing?
« on: November 04, 2012 - 01:25:12 PM »
I've always liked go-wings and Year One has a budget wing for $112.  Others sell the same wing for $200.

Has anyone here seen/installed one of these?  Plastic pedistals might be an issue but I'm curious just the same.

Money IS an issue and a $500 perfect reproduction is not important to me...  I'm saving up for a paint job (sigh)...

I have NO experience, so I'll say that first.

I have never heard of plastic pedestals. I would be afraid of them snapping off. I don't know what kind of stress the wind has on the spoiler at speed, so hopefully you'll be OK.    :dunno:

I have often heard that the only one's worth purchasing are from First Place Auto and
Dales. Dales are on back order and FAP is somewhat pricey, but you get what you pay for.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

I agree with Mike.  The plastic pedestals scare me a little.  All depends how you drive.

And from what I hear, if you drive like Mike, the plastic pedestals won't last long!  :burnout:  :roflsmiley:

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

This is intersting...  the picture on FPAP is the same one, except Year One has taken a couple mounting bits off (the under trunck lid brackets)...  FPAP is asking $289.
Their description says the "stanchions are also reengineered in ABS with steel inserts"...

I see others using the same picture too...

I think I'm going to bite on this and see what happens...  ... edit.  plus there is a 20% off code expiring today...  :)

Besides, I need something to go with the new front spoiler I just received this week.  At $160 shipped it looks great.

Well now I see their game...  YOne wants $80 to ship it...

The front spoiler was $30 to ship from AR.

Oh well... sorry for the drama...

Alright... just to show everyone how fickle I really am...  I added the 70-72 bumper brackets (at %20 off) and the shipping is the same so I went for it.

Just call me waffleman from now on...

I'll post results...

Is the pedestals plastic or fiberglass? Big difference between the two.

Don't leave the underside brackets off. They support the wing so that it doesn't damage the skin of the deck lid. There are special nuts that attach the wing pedestal studs to the underside brackets.
