1st issue found.

  Well found my 1st issue, looks like I got myself a minor oil leak, probably the main seal as it is drip drip slow from the drain hole in the Bell Housing clutch inspection cover.  :banghead:  :eek4:

Oil level is proper. leak not from sending unit, and does not look like the heads, or pan gasket. I will have to get her back up on the jack stands and crawl under to take a look see. I did not assemble this block so I am not sure what seal they used on the rear main seal.

Only leaks when under heat and pressure. Am I going to be able to drop the oil pan , w/o pulling the engine and redo the seal? If I unhook the center steering link or am I going to have to pull the sumbitty!

Nevermind I found several threads on the subject! Glad I don,t have to pull the engine if it turns out to be the seal. I did find a drip trail coming off of the Pcv valve crankcase pressure may be a issue. Engine just runs and sounds so darn good and Cody was right there are always issues after a build.

You'll get it all figured out.  Don't let it get you down as all restorations will need some shake down to get it perfect.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Mains can leak when sitting & still be ok driving , I would watch it for a while to be sure you have to pull it apart , if you do pull it apart &I would use right stuff sealant & run a bead inside the seal plate where it meets the block all the way up .
 Check the rear of the valve covers too

I've done exactly what you're going to do and I few ideas I want to run by you first.  You might want to give it a bit and watch it for awhile.  If you're using a used crank, it can take a bit of time for the groove to wear in.  Drive it over to my place this spring and I'll take a look.

OK Cody I will do, I can bring it over sooner than spring, on a dry day would love to put it on your lift! It does not leak when sitting, only drips a bit when in use, and leaves a few small 2 inch oil puddles undere the rear k-frame and bell housing inspection cover.

Pulled the engine out couple weeks ago for a few reasons, plus I was bored (really).

I am cleaning up the engine for a different color paint and to check a couple things like the clutch, changing back to a stock oil pan, heli coiled the thermo-stat bolt holes on the intake and other things.

I always seen a small drop of oil on the back of the oil pan (no big deal) just wet but nothing on the floor. I figure it was the oil pan rear lip seal or the rear main seal.

Anyway it was a small leak on the passenger side lifter plug on the back of the block.  So I cleaned it up new teflon tape and a little pipe sealer.

Now I just have to paint the engine and put it back in...

 :popcorn:  Mine leaks a little too.  :(  But not enough to make me pull it . About a quarter size spot on the floor . I'll watch it and hope it doesn't get worce. I even used the fancy machined aluminum rear seal from Mancini and " the right stuff" sealer... ::)
