I'd put 'em back on the car, pickle fork inline with the control arm, 3-4lb hammer, and a 'round house' swing.

I'd put 'em back on the car, pickle fork inline with the control arm, 3-4lb hammer, and a 'round house' swing.

Tried that ...a few times...they just will not budge.

Try this trick an old friend taught me? Heat up the area around the taper on the LCA with a common propane torch, then with a cheap birthday candle  melt the wax around it trying to get it into the taper?
I've used this before with rusty seized stuff and amazed how well it worked?  :o

Thansk Brad, I will give that a try.  Good excuse to go buy a new tool too!!!

I would imagine the key is not to use too much heat on a suspension component.

Jas, are you trying to salvage them? The bfh thing actually requires TWO bfh's with one being behind the bj housing while whacking it on the other side with the second bfh. If you've got the arns/bj off, you can bring them over to my garage where we have most of the available means of "persuation" available.  I'll pm you. Ian

Thanks for the offer Ian, If the heat does not work, I will give you a call.

Sucsess!!!  sort of....I put both the LCAs back on and put a little heat to the tapers, with a little candle wax added for good measure.

Then put the picke fork to them, nutted up and took a few, ok more then a few, big swings with my BFH..l. lo and behold I got the pass side to pop off!   :bananasmi

I tell you, I takes some guts to hammer away on that pickle fork.  That sucker was on there!!!

Now I am working on the drivers side.  :ylsuper:

Thanks for the help guys.
