Greetings all. I have been looking for a decent site for Mopars and this is by far the best I've found. At the end of August of this year I came across an add for a 1973 Cuda. I wasn't really looking for a Cuda but this one was within driving distance to inspect, looked good from the pics and was priced lower than others I've seen in its condition. After some talking with the wife (originally she was not too keen on the purchase) we agreed to at least drive down and look at the car. I told her if it was a POS I would not buy it. As it turned out for the most part the car was in great shape. It was missing a lot of the trim but the body was in great shape. Most of the rust on the quarter panels had been replaced already. Paint isn't the greatest but from 20 feet way it looks good. As it turned out I had to get it. The wife still had reservations until she drove it. Listening to and feeling that 340 with a purple cam and 3" exhaust push her up to and over the speed limit brought a smile to her face. Nothing beats an old muscle car! Since the purchase I have replaced the fuel tank, added seat belts (there were none) bought some emblems, fixed a failed rear axle seal and other minor repairs. Now I waiting to have a new dash and headliner installed. $$$$ My brother bought a used '73 Cuda back in 75 or 76. He had gotten out of the military and was in college. If you remember that is when the arabs started the oil embargo and gas when to about 75 cents a gallon! With his Cuda only getting about 8 MPG it was eating him up so he traded it in on a 1977 Toyota Celica GT 5 speed. (Which I still have) Anyway, i loved that car. So when this opportunity came up I got the fever all over again and had to have it. Its been about 37 years ago that my brother owned his. He was excited about my find. I'm trying to get it in a little better shape so when he comes to visit he can drive it and reminisce. I will have lots of questions as I bring my car back original. I'm not shooting for a show car or garage queen. This rumble fish will have it's weekend outings if for nothing else to show these knuckleheads with the 4 cylinder cars and over sized exhaust pipes what a real muscle car is about. Ya, know...you can take a muffler off a lawn mower and make it loud, but that doesn't make it powerful. Have a good one.
