Latest round of dio's.
« on: March 06, 2013 - 03:37:39 PM »
I had an idea to try some thing a bit different. I wanted to build something on a smaller scale that would fit on a desk at work, or on a smaller shelf. This is what I started with. I wanted something recognizable from a 1/2 perspective. Since I had the 71 -----it had to be purple.      :bananasmi     As a first try there are a few things to change on future try's. The solid roof on the rear view makes it kinda dark inside. The swinging doors on the front view were an after thought. When you look straight on the opening is to narrow for the car, and a few more things I would change.  Still need to add a few items but this is what I have so far. I will break the pics into sections  so I won't over do it.

Front half.  With this one I made the roof removeable--or able to open 1/2 to let in some light. The size of this one is 11"wide by 6" deep.  The rear one is 11" x 4 1/2".

Makes me wish I had a desk at work to put it on!
Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?

Nice!  Cool idea to cut the car in half to make 2 dioramas.

For a second there when I saw the first pic I thought you were going to make a 4 door Barracuda like ECS is actually making!
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Pic #2 and 3 of my ARII 1/24 scale model car

Thanks everyone.  While sitting here at my comp. desk I had another idea with the half car theme. I am going to make a set of book ends with half a challenger on each end. I am going to get a nice piece of oak and make an L shape with a nice routered bottom piece. Then make the back piece like a garage wall with a work bench, shelfs and cabinet. Put a tool box and tools ect on it----and do the other side as a matching mirror image.  I think I will make the challenger a yellow and black T/A (my favorite).  Found a black and white checkered duct tape that will make a cool floor.  More of this one later. Here's a couple more pics.
