71 challenger /6 value
« on: January 20, 2013 - 06:11:01 PM »
Looking at a 71 challenger. I believe it is originally a /6 car because the vin digit looks more like a C than a G . It has an original slapstick ( console is off and all brackets look original) it has small block now. It does need a resto but not too rusty. They produced roughly 1700  /6 chally`s  so I am wondering if they would go for more cash than a 318 car? Sorry no pics!

Can't give any kind of value with so little info and no pictures. Just because there were very few cars of a certain
option made doesn't always make it more valuable. Not to mention it sounds like it doesn't even have the
numbers matching drive train. It could still be a very good candidate to restore but don't expect to flip it and make a ton of cash.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Sounds like a car to build however you want. I agree with everyone.  If you sell it you will lose your time invested and maybe even some money on it.  That does not mean it is a bad car.  Whether the car is right for you or not depends on what you want to do with it.

Mine was originally a /6 car. Fun part it you can build it however you want and enjoy it. I'm not into 1:1 scale diecast cars so much. Fun to look at and all but most people don't drive them.

I think that a big block r/t clone black with red interior  will be my goal, already having the small block 70 cuda done in the garage! I was just curious about the slim production numbers, i could not handle actually having a /6 to drive( no offense to the underpowered out there) i plan to lose that slapstick too! Bored with my automatic now. If it had its original drivetrain then it would be a little different . Never owned a big block before( my cordoba doesnt count)
I pick it up tuesday and i will share some pics!

Since this is a valuation thread, I have to ask what you paid for it?

/6 cars are usually a little less beat up than v8 cars.

I gave 4k for it. Funny, its probably the cleanest ebody i have bought and the closest to home! Usually i have paid top dollar for a terd it sheeps clothing and end up driving a bit to get it. This ones a half hour away.cool thing is that it came from a road i used to bike down to get to  a buddys  house. I would tell my mopar nut uncle that there is a cuda under a carport near us and he should check it out. I was probably 13 and now that i am 36 i bought that cuda, haha i really thought it was . I get it tomorrow because we got some snow here tonight
