:). Wow, thanks for the awesome feedback. I appreciate it. This was previously a race engine. All I know is it had aluminum heads before it was tamed for the street. Greg

Here's an article on installing roller cams.
Don't see any need to remove block from car?

72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

So what you are saying is that you want to put a new roller cam in a 40 year old motor with 40 year old cam bearings?

no, didn't say that. just saying I was not aware of a requirement to pull a motor to install a roller cam.
what if motor is well maintained and is only 5 or 10 years old?

It really depends what the owner wants to do but with the top end (lifters, rockers)  you have everything you need to make the swap without much effort. As for the cam, I wouldn't personally do it but there are others under some circumstances would.

Greg here in Cincinnati area wondering what suggestions you have on upgrading my '70 440 Cuda.  It's .040 over so about a 448 ci? Forged crank and rods, Lunati Bracketmaster II hyd flat tappet cam, M1 Mopar intake (7" high), Holley 750, Doug's headers, MSD ignition, iron heads with light porting, 727 manual shift auto, 410 Dana.
I figure low twelves right now. I wanna keep it streetable. Any suggestions on upgrades? ( I do have nos but it isn't finished yet).  I bought it already built like this.  Thanks, greg

3500 stall converter
when you smash the throttle, it doubles the torque to the rear wheels!
But you wanna have a cam that makes power in the higher rpms, like above 3000.
Also, adjust your timing curve.
Also saw an article that showed adding the proper stall converter added 75 hp to the engine output.
