Steering column o-ring part number needed

Hey all, I've got my column ready for assembly and all the parts are laid out and identified. I am still looking for the o-ring that goes between the firewall 2 firewall plates. My original was in good shape but is nowhere to be found (2 years and 2 moves). I'm looking for the original part number since it's likely that the dealership probably still carries these.

Any thoughts?

I have this exact same question, but haven't found anything on this site.  I've also hunted the pages of the regulars like yearone, dantes, jims, etc.  Any ideas?

There isn't a number anywhere on the oring itself that I can find.

It might not have been on this sight but I think I remember this topic coming up before.  I don't think a dirrect replacement is available.  Mopar Muscle did a steering column rebuild article many years ago that I used when rebuilding mine.  It might have been in that article where they said a new o-ring is not available.

There is a light taper to the outside edge but it looks easy to replace.

I think about 5 years ago I got the last 2 from Mopar in the computer system.  I used them already, but I do remember buying them and thinking "dang these are going to be hard to find one day."

So I take it that a standard O ring without the beveled edge, same size won't work?

If you look closely at the picture you can see the light reflection is very even around the entire ring where the bevel is. Leads me to believe it was designed this way, most likely to flatten out evenly under pressure or because that part happened to be produced already so it was cheaper. Either way I would feel fine replacing mine with a standard o ring.

They were originally round, not tapered or beveled.  Any "O" ring the same size should work just fine.

The one I have is not round anymore? Make scence though Cody. I'm sure you could go to a hydraulic supply and get an o ring that's very close?
