Welcome to the site! Very nice ride you came across! You said a small block with EFI? Are you planning on a newer motor with stock EFI or aftermarket EFI with intake swap, or even the FAST units mounting on the 4 bbl intake??? I have been thinking of these options with my 360, but without wanting to spend a fortune...

I'm leaning very heavily towards a 318 magnum (have one that ran great with 140k) with a cam and R/T heads(also have these) for the time being maybe a 408 stroker down the road when I have a little more money.  Over the years of playing with the dakota I picked up quite a few spare magnum parts including a few full harnesses and Mopar Performance computers.  I haven't sat down to figure out all the wiring yet but I'll be going with a 96 OBDII system and 46RE trans.  If you have a 360 LA it won't have the crank sensor bosses but you can run a dual trigger distributor to get around that.

As for the local cruises I'll need some info on these.

Its cool to hear you have knowledge with factory harness, you talked about the 318 magnum engine, and that got me thinking. I have an engine I got from Summit back in 2005. It was called a Magnum 380 crate motor. Its really a production Magnum 360, but has 380 hp, with 411 torque. This crate motor came with Mopar performance 4 bbl intake, and suggested a 750 carb, and not recommended for A/C. The add in Summit said it has bosses for fuel injection?? What does that mean? Can you remove the intake and convert to late model EFI? It has a strong cam. I just wondered if its a  production performance engine, any chance Mopar might have software in place for this specific set up?

When they say it has bosses for FI, it means the intake has enough metal cast into cylindrical humps in the runners for you to drill and mount an injector. FI is a assumed, personal taste with a large and expensive learning curve. Like a good old Luddite, I'll stick to a carb, thanks.  :thumbsup:

Mopar did sell a full EFI conversion kit for those engines.  It has been discontinued as a kit but I believe the ECM and many "key" parts are still available through mopar.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. The cam is so massive in this engine, I wasn't sure if normal EFI could figure it out.
