'70-'74 Barracuda Sheetmetal Differences?
« on: February 14, 2013 - 01:54:49 PM »
Howdy,

I'm currently about to start restoration on an AAR 'Cuda which needs quite a bit of rust repair.  Eventually, I'm also going to start looking for another vehicle as well.

I'm wondering if it would be feasible for me in the future to consider purchasing a '72-'74 'Cuda so I can use it as a guide to align/shape some of the body panels on the AAR.  I already have a body diamgram but was thinking another 'Cuda would be additional help.  I know there's quite a few changes between the '70 and the '72-'74 Barracudas, but are the bodies/sheetmetal close enough for this to be feasible?

Thank you.

Welcome aboard here.

That is actually a good idea you have there. Besides side marker lights changing, the body is the same 70-74. The grill area and tail panels will be different, but I suppose you know that. The only other thing I can think of is the floor boards. The later years had provisions for the rear seat belt re-tractors.

Perhaps others will know more. My wisdom is more based on having a Challenger.

I appreciate the response.  You're right, I'm not really concerned about the tail light/side marker differences; I'm interested in the body lines and panel fitment.  If anyone else knows any other differences I should know about, I'd appreciate it!

they are basically the same, body lines and panel fitment would be the same. minor frame changes after 72. if your asking can you change or clone a 72/74 into a 70 aar , Yes that can be done.

Thanks, but no, I have an AAR 'Cuda I am going to be restoring, but I'm thinking about getting a second 'Cuda to aid me along with a chassis diagram.  Thanks for the help!
