340 Bolt ons

I got a fairly fresh 340 in my Challenger and I want to wake it up with parts I had for another 340. I have no idea what the compression is or year.. Its orange so I am hoping its a actual 71 - back but could be a 72/73 engine painted orange.

It has a mild comp cam, manifolds and a tired old Carter carb now

I have;
Edelbrock 340 Aluminum Heads
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake
Demon Street Demon 625
TTI Headers

I am planing on bolting all these goodies on unless someone has other advice on this combo..

Sound like a good project. TTI headers are about the best on the market for Mopars next to Dougs Headers. One thing I would suggest is a carb that flows a little more cfm's (700-750 cfm range). Demons can be problematic. Some people swear by them, but if you are not real savvy with carbs, I'd try something else like maybe a Holley or Proform. Keep us posted on the project!  :2thumbs:

i would run a 750 carb properly tuned and bolt the other goodies you have on and go. any idea what cam is in it now? what trans in it? if automatic is there a stall converter?

727 with shift kit stock stall for now
Should I go vacuum or double pumper on the 750 carb
I'd like it to be street friendly and run somewhere in the 13s

with not much in the way of a stall i would stick with a vacuum sec. one of the ones with the quick change top and a set of secondary springs to taylor how quick the secondaries open up would be good for your needs. any idea on the current cam?

IMO depends what you are looking for. For performance I would get something else. Just my opinion.

If you want the stock look for the later years than that's what came on the later cars. I have that carb and I don't have the car on the road yet but I'll be keeping it as I like the smaller primaries for cruising. Similar to the Rochester quadrant-jet design. I had one of those on my old 5th ave with a 318. It was good since I didn't change the cam and the smaller primaries helped it not bog so much.
