It's nearly time for my Charlene to go under the knife. Her tired old .030 over 383 needs some serious work since the rear main finally blew all the way out. With the oil at appropriate levels, she'll leak up to 3qts/day.
I've decided to build my budget around 440 source's 496 .060 over stroker kit topped off with a 6 pack.
I'll also be going through the trans, drive shaft, rear end and wiring harness.
All that added Hp is going to require plenty of added strength to her bone structure too.
While I'm at it, I figure I'll fix the holes, re cover the seats, fix the carpet, upgrade to my candy color matched trim and dash panels and replace the weatherstripping.
I'll be collecting parts and taking donations over the next several months, while I try to keep up with picking up everything I need to take care of the build.
Charlene is still drivable (a little). She starts and I can move her around the parking lot at least until I can get the motor built the way I want her.
Anyone Have some Ideas on how to get the best bang for my buck and maybe some free work in the San Diego area?
