71' Cuda Owners Argent Grille: Headlight buckets you have on yours
« on: February 28, 2013 - 01:24:46 AM »
Back and forth, undecided I've been on headlight buckets on my 71' Grille.

Stay with the correct black one's that are the correct for Argent grille?
Or put on the Chrome one's (which I also have & won't be correct) for an argent 71' grille?

How would you choose?

How original is your whole car gonna be?

If it's like, 95+% original, black.

If it's modded, like aftermarket wheels and non-stock options like Shaker, billboard, etc., I'm fond of chrome rings myself.  Although I'm partial to painted grilles though too.

It'll be close to what was original. However it was a 318 car originally.

I have the chrome rings on my car. I prefer the look of these over the black ones. I am pretty sure it is an original grill. I have had the car since 1977. But in the process of restoring it--I found out it took a hard hit in the front right side front fender. The fender and door were replaced so there is a slight posibility that the grill was to.

Argent, to match the rest of the grille isn't an option?
What about painting to match body color?
If its strictly between black and chrome: chrome.
The black rings makes the car look like it has black-eyes, like it got punched.

Hey Topcat, Im trying to figure this one out too.  Ive been sanding this week and about ready to repair the cracks.  First, I cant decide what color to paint the grill.  Blue, black, or argent?  I think I will go with the chrome rings when I can afford them, but what color grill would look best?   Opinions any one?

The Argent grille catches your eye more. Looks like raw steel from a distance.

I think a body colored grille adds more contrast to the chesse graiters. When I did my grille years ago chrome rings weren't available so I painted the outer portion of the ring argent to match the inserts on the grille and the inner part black, then clear coated. They look great and no one  notices that they aren't chrome.
