Eliminating A/C - How to?

I bought my Challenger it had non working AC & Heat.

I'd really just rather have working heat.

Aside from removing the underhood stuff, what needs to be done under the dash? Where do I source this stuff?

Also, the Heater control valve is leaking. But it appears this is an A/C only item? I've looked through the FSM, it appears that non-AC e-bodies don't have this?

Yes I agree everything is different, my chally is a ac car.

I have an AC Chally with no AC. Remove all the AC equipment under the hood but leave the heater lines hooked up. It should be fairly simple. That's all we did. I didn't change anything under the dash.

I think that's what I am going to do.  Found a heater control valve on rockauto that's the same as what is currently on my challenger.  Next question is there a source for replacement cables?

you can bypass the heater control valve,why use it since your deleting the ac. Do you mean the ac/heat control cable if so I went to a dodge dealer last year and bought one and it cost less then what the mopar shops are charging. Look up the cable # and call the dealer.

This is a place where Chrysler cheaped-out.  Temperature is controlled by blending the air in non-A/C cars.  This means coolant is always flowing through the heater core, even on 100 degree days.  It would be better to send it all through the radiator for better cooling.

When I pull the A/C out of a car, I go ahead and remove the evaporator out from under the dash too.  This gets rid of weight and those ugly fittings on the fire wall.

cudazappa, I believe the cable you are looking for is the one going fron the dash to the control valve. It's available from Roseville Moparts.

Thanks for the help all.  I won't pull the dash this spring then.  I guess all I have left to do is make sure the blower motor works.
