Removing P/S Gear Box

I have a 71 cuda 340, trying to remove the power steerin gear box, i have everything loose and there does not seem to be enough room to remove the gear box from the steering column, do you have to loosen the column under the dash and pull it up out of the way to remove the gear box.

yes.   loosen the 2 nuts under the dash and remove the floor bolts. Slide it back an inch or so.  Dont use force from the engineback side, your column could collapse
