Rear floor pan problem
« on: April 02, 2013 - 09:59:41 AM »
Has anyone else run into this problem?  I ordered rear floor pans for my Challenger (I wanted a one piece but apparently they only had the individual pans themselves.)  When I went to test fit them I noticed the contours and stampings are right, but they were a few inches short.  I'm assuming they're for a Barracuda and they shipped me the wrong parts.  I'm starting to think Sherman only makes these floor pans (160-45 L&R) in Barracuda size and for some reason markets them for Challengers too.  I can't find a separate part number for Challenger pieces.  Does anyone know if the AMD part #  410-2570 is the correct size or are they made short too?  Or does anyone have a source for new rear floor pans including the center hump?  Any info appreciated.

Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?

Roseville has the floor pans for Challenger separate from the Cuda ones.

The Sherman parts are considered "patch" panels while the AMD ones are replacement panels.
The difference being that the AMD ones are exactly the same as the OEM parts and include the center tunnel and seat belt mounts etc....The Sherman panels are junk.

NOTE: 71-74 Challengers have a different seat belt location then 70. AMD makes both so be sure to order the correct ones.

:iagree:   Exactly. they're patch panels only. AMD makes a nice 1 piece panel and that's the way I'd be going. None of that sliced up the corner crap to weld up either.

Hey guys - Mike from Auto Metal Direct here.

Our rear floor pans for the 1970 Challenger are exactly like original. We sell a lot of these and we've gotten tons of positive feedback from a lot of customers. Remember, there is a big different in quality and fit between real AMD floor pans and Sherman patch panels.

Hi Mike, thanks for chiming in....I wish I had of known that you also offer 71-74 rear pans. I just did a 71 Challenger last fall using your products, but I ended up changing 70 pieces... :banghead:

Thanks for all the input guys.  :2thumbs: I just ordered a set of AMD floors from Roseville.  They'll save me a TON of work splicing in the patches with the old metal.
