adjusting side windows in a 1970 barracuda
« on: March 27, 2013 - 08:33:44 PM »
Hi, I have been reading and adjusting my ventless side windows now for at least 2 months with very little improvement after adjustment than before I started. I followed the manual and diagrams from any mopar source I could find but, still I am no closer today than when I started.  Is there anyone that could point me to a real good description and diagrams as to how to do this task? Can you tell me if the top of the window rests on the roof rail weatherstrip or does it actually slide behind it when the door is closed?  I would love to see something that talks about all the adjustment points and in what order to start adjusting at least.  Just today I removed both windows, took a shower, downed 3 cold ones and am going to start all over tomorrow. Had to clear my head of all the wrong things I tried. If I didn't have bad luck....I wouldn't have any.

Thanks in advance.....I know someone has successfully completed this. It might be just me.
Dennis

the factory service manual should have some of the best info on adjusting , sorry I do not have pix handy .
The bolts under the door tip the window in & out at the top , the top of the track can also be adjusted a little in & out with the double nut , loosen the locknut & turn the adjuster  , the vertical tracks have front to rear adjustment to line them up . The felt pads keep the window tight to prevent it rattling . When the weatherstrip is in place the window should close into it leaving a roll inside & over the top of the glass .

I am going to try to install these again today and if I can't get them correct, I will take pix and show you what I did. Maybe someone had the same problem and has a fix for it.

Thanks Chryco for the reply...I have read that service manual so much the print on the pages is transferring to my fingers, unfortunately not to my head.

I know I had issue with this too. I believe a mjor part of my problem was I had my roofrail weatherstrip install wrong. That through the whole quarter window adj way off.....i think i have since figured it out. post a pic of your roofrail weatherstripping. what brand did you go with? or perhaps its original? i used metro....
