Hello from Long Beach
« on: April 16, 2013 - 02:27:22 PM »
Hello,
I am 23 years old and from long beach california and new to this forum and to owning a mopar. I just got my first mopar, a 71 challenger, about two weeks ago from a guy in sparks Nevada. I am really excited about it cause I have been a challenger/ cuda fan since I was in middle school and now I'm happy to say I own one. The car it self is originally a 318 automatic, GB5 brite blue paint with black vinyle and interior. She has the factory build sheet and vin tag, but no fender tag and the tag on the door is almost nothing so I would like to replace those, so if it is possible please let me know. The previous owner didn't have the original motor and trans. so I got a 440 ready to go with a 727 trans. as well as a 8 3/4 rear end. I want to try and turn it into a RT 440 six pack clone (with a shaker) and so far I think I'm on the right path. He also painted the car a lemon twist, but I want to change it back to the original GB5 color, but I have been having a hard time finding the paint, I must not be looking in the right locations. Ill post pictures of everything when I can figure out how to as well as a list of everthing I need. I would really appreciate any and all help, but for now here's a quick intro of my self and the car.

Cool I think I know the car you are talking about I saw it on Craigslist and it was posted here. It is missing the 71 grille correct? Also post some pics. How's the finish on the paint that was what soekone had mentioned they were worried about. Don't forget the spring fling is coming up may 11/12 supposed to be a good swap and show its in van nuys. It will be my first time there
Ecs can make the sticker not sure about the fender tag I know some can make them and since you have the build sheet it should be easier. I though gb5 was metallic green? I know b5 is blue

Welcome & congrats on finding a 71
PPG should have the paint , be careful though there are 2 B5 blue paints , EB5 & GB5 , you want GB5 which is a slightly different color for 71

Challenger - You`ll wish You Hadn`t
