Thanks for all the replies, this forum looks to be a real helpful group for when I find my Cuda. I took pics and movies of the black 1970 I looked at, I'll try to post a couple pics to see what you all think. Another question, I don't know enough about these cars to know their value or identify potential issues. Is there a reputable inspection company that specializes in classic cars? I'm in Northern CA, but I may end up finding my car in another state. Is there a company that is highly respected or recommended for inspections? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

It's harder to place a value on a moified car but not saying it can't be done.  Easier to toss a value out on a stock car.  Don't know of any companies that'll do that.  Modified cars ususally don't recoup the costs of the build in the selling price as the car that it is now may appeal to a smaller group of buyers.

Post pics and such and we may be able to give you some idea.

If you go buy the Edmunds/NADA guides the engine/trans/options make a bigger difference than whether its a Cuda or Barracuda.  That said, Cudas are no doubt worth more money to a lot of folks but based on the reaction my 73 Barracuda gets whenever I drive it most people could care less.  If you're going to resell it, it matters.  If not, I really don't think it matters as much as most people think.  I was going to 'clone' a Cuda, but quickly realized my Barracuda with sport hood, stripes, lots of options, etc. was just as cool.

You will find like me that there is very little Cudas/Barracudas for sale in California.

I've seen a few in Socal and there are more up in the Portland/Seattle area, otherwise it's a deep south/east easter egg hunt.

Good luck in your search!

I was like you about 4-5 years ago. This board has been priceless to me in my search for knowledge. I spent many months researching here and everywhere I could, and looked for a car that was closest to what I was looking for in options, color, etc, and I didnt want or have the time or skill for a major project. The economy was such that I think I got a great value on a car that someone else had spent a lot of time and money on, and probably got bored with it.
I found my car about 1400 miles away and took the time to fly to look at it.
Made a weekend getaway out of it with the wife. Then spent about $1000 shipping it home with a covered carrier.
Take your time. Dont fall in love with any one car until you do your homework. It will still be there. These cars often take years to sell if you want top dollar (people generally have to come up with all cash-not easy today) so keep that in mind. Buy one you will enjoy, and who cares if its a cuda or a barracuda (mine is BH coded), but I didnt overpay for it since I knew exactly what it was.
Good luck in your search.

Yep bs code cars are worth more than bp or bh cars. My advice is to take the time to find the one you want and enjoy it. Most people will give you compliments and thumbs up and will not care or even know the difference. The only ones who tend to pick stuff apart, unfortunately is our fellow mopar guys because they know the difference. Good luck and enjoy your search.
