I hope you get the issues figured out. I don't know if this has been brought up or not, but I have a friend with a BBC in a Chevelle and his car did the exact same thing. After he went through everything in the engine cooling system repeatedly with no resolution, he installed a transmission temperature guage. That was the issue. The transmission was getting hotter and hotter and transmitting the heat to the engine via the radiator. He installed a much more efficient transmission cooler and solved the whole issue. Just a thought...... :bigshades:

thanks Ken, the possibility crossed my mind, but since the stat didn `t open at all, I`m pretty sure I found the cause.  I`ve ordered an aluminium radiator and separate oil cooler for the tranny.  :2thumbs:

I have the tranny cooler and a new alum rad from Wizard colling in my 70 383, runs 195 all day long now......with a 180
