Fuel line
« on: April 23, 2013 - 07:57:57 PM »
I have a 1970 cuda 440 Six pack.
I've noticed that I have two fuel lines running from my gas tank To the front of the car.
One is capped off,and one goes to the fuel pump.
Does anyone know why there would be two fuel lines running from the gas tank?

It is for your fuel vapor or fuel return line.  It was part of the emissions in 1970/1971.

It has been capped off for fifteen years.
Is there any problem keeping it capped off?

Originally, there was a fuel vapor separator mounted up by the fuel pump.  With the vapor line plugged, the fuel tank doesn't have a way to vent itself and will build a lot of pressure.  If yours has been capped off for that long...and you havn't had any issues, my guess is someone added a vented gas cap.
