Made a quick decision and bought this car.
« on: April 23, 2013 - 08:15:27 PM »
I'm completely new to Barracuda's and classic cars. My father had a 72 Barracuda when he was younger and always showed me pictures of the car and talked about how he wished he kept it. Anyways, I bought this car not really knowing anything about it. Guy needed cash fast as he was ill and left town to be with his family. So I bought the car. Wanting to find out what everyone thought the value was based on a few pictures I have. I have the title and it's a 74. Originally a 318 car. Fist digits of the VIN are BH23G4B.  Car doesn't have the 318 in it anymore. Someone put a 440 in it. Don't know if the 440 is of the time period. I travel for work a lot and haven't had much time to investigate. I don't have any pictures of the interior on my phone so I cant post. I know the seats are not original and headliner were replaced. Originally had the shifter on the column. Now  it's on the floor. Car starts and runs. It sat for 2 years but I did get it running. Ignition is a little messed up. The car has a push button starter. Door trim says 'cuda on it. Car has some rust and someone did some body work on it but isn't good. Car just appears to have a lot of modifications done to the motor and transmission. Don't know how much this affects value since they aren't original. Any thought on value would be great. Starting to second guess my buy.

Not too bad of an example from what I can see in the pics. What did you pay for it, if you don't mind me asking.
Cuda is gone :(

Well the 440 wasn't an option in a 74, but a lot of people like to swap them in as they were the big engine (aside from the Hemi).    Doesn't look too bad.  Be a fun cruise night/driver but would take a lot to turn into a show car (if that was your intention).

Well done rest-mods do have some value, especially if you do a lot of the popular upgrades (handling, disc brakes, etc).

My advice, get it running good, and go cruising with dad/wrench on it with dad, the memories will be worth more than the car ever will be :)

it is not original but has potential as far as market these days 5k would be high in its present condition but its always in what the other person would pay , but less than 5k in its present state  :2cents:
