soooo......  back to the thread... what will a 383 bored .20 over with edelbrock perf intake,  with 470 lift 270 duration cam, 650  barry grant, dynomax headers and mufflers, TTI 2.5 inch exhaust and TF 727 with 3.23 rear end and a 2500 stall converter produce for a driving sensation?  How close will it be to a 5.7L  fuel injected Hemi Ram

I doubt you want to hear this but the 383 should make approx 220 RWHP the Ram should be 230 RWHP , the car will still be faster being lighter

Chryco,

You mean to tell me a 383 only makes 220 rwhp with the above configuration, let alone stock? I would have thought it to be in the high 200's (260-280) in stock form, and easily over 300+ with the mods above. Parasite loss that high?

So a modern 5.7 Hemi in a E-body makes more rwhp than keeping it as a 318/340/383, hmm? I say no, unless it is the 6.1L version, ha ha

we pulled 12 cars on the dyno in the same day & the #s were disappointing basically across the board , the 340s beat the 383s in every case which I expected  , the #s were very telling & 200 RWHP is still a strong engine , we tested a 440+6 that I had not built & it only made 210 RWHP , obviously something was not done correctly
